TNB Commentaries 040: Scooby-Doo 50th Anniversary Special!

WB_Scooby_50yearsPlease turn off your cellphones and jump into the Mystery Machine with us as we go back in time to the very beginning to discover the gang’s origins and watch a franchise launch a 50 year attempt to solve the biggest, baddest, and spookiest mysteries.

For our 40th Commentary, we head back to 2009 & 1969 to discuss the 1st appearances of the Mystery Inc. gang with a TV Movie and pilot, starring Frank Welker, Casey Kasem, Don Messick, Stefanianna Christopherson, Nicole Jaffe, Nick Palatas, Haley Kiyoko, Kate Melton, & Robbie Amell.

We cover everything we can fit into this mega 50th anniversary retrospective from the oldest episode to the newest direct-to-video movie and currently airing series, action figures, comics, the history of the various shows, and our memories, thoughts, and enjoyment of it all.

On a personal note, this episode has a lot of great bits and jokes in it, with more that we wish we could have packed in, but we want to send a special thank you to @theJSarge for allowing us to share the spectacular cover of the WAY Theme he did in April 2018.

Much love and respect, rock star.

Scooby-Doo And Guess Who? Premieres Next Week!

Just announced through IGN, Scooby-Doo And Guess Who? premieres in exactly 1 week from today, June 27th, on Boomerang!
New episodes will air weekly after that.
They posted the trailer on their YouTube channel, go watch it HERE and let us know what you think of it!

Personally, I am so in.
The New Scooby-Doo Movies is one of my top 3 favorite Scooby shows, and this is basically a revival of that.
So this looks to be EXACTLY what I want from a Scooby-Doo show.
And with guest stars like Wanda Sykes & Weird Al (who were not part of that initial announcement) I’m even more excited!

I’m hoping there’s some presence at San Diego Comic-Con next month to further get the word out about what looks to be an amazing new chapter in this beloved 50 year old franchise!

Scooby-Doo And The Curse Of The 13th Ghost is now available!

From Warner Brothers Home Entertainment, Scooby-Doo And The Curse Of The 13th Ghost is available now on digital & DVD.

After just over 33 years, we now have the final story in the saga of The 13 Ghosts Of Scooby-Doo!
This is a movie I dreamt of for years and never thought it would happen, and you guys have absolutely no clue how excited I am that it does.

This one is a curious case too because WB has released a ton of clips, teasers, and scenes from it.
Which makes me wonder if they’re testing something out.
Maybe to see how wide this goes/how much attention they can get, if they can get more than just the hardcore fans interested, maybe they are wondering about what future movies could/should be, or some combination of the 3.

Either way, I really hope you guys check this movie out, gang.
I’ll definitely be reviewing this in an upcoming episode and I would love to talk with some of you about it.

The Nerd Blitz Question Of The Week #9

It’s Tuesday and that can only mean 1 thing…
It’s Question time, gang!

Given all of the recent rumors and turmoil, this weeks Question is: WB/DC execs come to you and ask you to help recast Batman & Superman, who are you picking to fill the roles?

Leave your answer in the comments below or tweet it with the hashtag #TNBQotW, so we can find it.

Special thanks to @SteBoost for our QotW logo.

Scooby-Doo And Guess Who? Set To Debut

Variety reports that the next Scooby-Doo series is set to premiere on Boomerang sometime in 2019!

And, as previously speculated and confirmed by Grey Griffin, it will indeed be a sort of reboot of The New Scooby-Doo Movies with each episode featuring guest stars.

The Variety piece reads: “Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?”: In the series from Warner Bros. Animation, the Mystery Inc. gang faces some of their toughest mysteries yet. To crack the cases, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo will join forces with some of the biggest names in celebrity and pop culture — including NBA star Chris Paul; recording artists Halsey and Sia; Ricky Gervais, Kenan Thompson, Bill Nye, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Mark Hamill, and Steve Urkel (voiced by Jaleel White, reprising his iconic role), as well as characters like Wonder Woman, Batman, Sherlock Holmes, and The Flash. Chris Bailey (“Kim Possible”) serves as producer with Sam Register (“Teen Titans Go!”) as executive producer.

Personally, I’m super excited for this!
I just hope they pick a good style for the models and animation.
A couple of those guest stars are a bit surpising though (Ricky Gervais? Urkel?), but it does fit into the Scooby Movies/Team-Up vibe, so I’m not worried.
Let us know what you think in the comments!
